AS Roma captain Daniele De Rossi has given his view on the Champions League semi-finals after his side were drawn to face Liverpool.
The Serie A club booked their place in the final four by coming back from a 4-1 first leg defeat to Barcelona to win 3-0 and secure passage on away goals.
The Italy international expressed his view that who his team were picked to play against “mattered little” and that they could draw on their experiences in the competition so far to help them through to the final.
“Who we got in the draw mattered little.” he told Roma TV.
“All the teams at this point are great. Liverpool have made a statement like we did, they beat the side that I thought were the favourites.
“They have a great coach. Like Barcelona and Shakhtar, we have huge respect for them, but we have a chance.
“We also have a very important game on Sunday. It is vital not only for the fans, but also for our position in the league table.
“We are all looking to do well in the derby, while we remain very confident of finishing in the top four.
“Everyone is motivated to follow the coach’s instructions and to finish the season as well as we possibly can.” he finished.
The thirty-four year old will skipper his side in the first leg on Tuesday 24th April at Anfield before the return match on Wednesday 2nd May in Rome.
