Barcelona striker Luis Suarez does not a reunion with Liverpool in the Champions League.
Should both sides progress from their quarter final ties this week, they could be drawn to face one another in the last four.
Uruguay international Suarez is keen to avoid coming up against his former club, according to a report by Don Balon, and would rather face La Liga rivals Real Madrid instead.
Suarez is said to fear the prospect of coming up against Liverpool’s attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino should the two teams get drawn to face each other in the semi finals.
But there is still plenty of work to be done by both clubs before any serious notion of a return to Anfield for Suarez can be considered, however.
His Barcelona side beat AS Roma 4-1 in their first leg at the Camp Nou last week, with Suarez getting his name on the scoresheet.
Liverpool have work to do in the second leg fixture against Manchester City at The Etihad on Tuesday evening, despite holding a 3-0 advantage from last week’s first leg at Anfield.
Real Madrid beat Serie A champions Juventus 3-0 in their first leg in Turin last week and look the most likely to progress this week.
Bayern Munich and Sevilla are the other teams which Suarez could come up against should Barcelona progress, with the German giants leading 2-1 from the first leg in Spain.
Many Liverpool supporters would relish the chance to see Suarez return to Anfield, but most will be focusing on Tuesday’s second leg with City first.
