Liverpool will have to hand Emre Can a contract worth £200,000 a week if he is to stay at Anfield.
That’s according to an article by The Mirror, in which they claim that the Germany international wants to be the highest paid player at the club.
Premier League leaders Manchester City are said to be keen on persuading him to stay in the Premier League, but cannot negotiate a deal until the end of the season.
Italian champions Juventus remain very interested in sealing a deal to take Can to Serie A this Summer after holding an interest for more than a year.
Liverpool will continue to attempt to persuade Can into extending his stay at the club, but he has rejected all offers put on the table so far.
The former Bayer Leverkusen man spoke about his future last week and indicated that he has options ahead of the expiration of his contract.
“My qualities are sufficient to play in a very big club next season.” he said.
“I do not want to exclude anything because I do not know what I will do from the summer.” he added.
