Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta has admitted that they are in the dark over whether they will be signing Emre Can this Summer.
The Liverpool midfielder is still on course to leave the club thanks to his contract expiring at the end of the campaign, with no deal agreed to decide where he will be playing next season.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp remains keen on keeping his compatriot at the club, but talks over a new deal for him to stay where he is reached an impasse a while ago and no resolution has been found.
But it looks like talk that a move to join the Serie A champions being sealed was premature, going by the latest news from Italy.
“We are periodically pointed to as a club that buys players. We have a squad suited to three tournaments and it meets our needs.” Marotta told Mediaset Premium.
“We’re ready to take any opportunities, I won’t deny we are concentrated on Emre Can and awaiting his response. That is our primary objective.
“If there is a negative response, we’ll move our attention on to other players.” he finished.
Many Liverpool supporters will be hoping that Klopp can persuade his fellow German to stick with the club.
