Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has responded to the news that Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have both been recalled to the England squad.
National manager Gareth Southgate has included the duo in his team for the upcoming friendlies against Holland and Italy ahead of the World Cup.
And Klopp is hopeful that they will be well managed in terms of their fitness as he prepares for the final stretch of the campaign.
“In an ideal world we work together with the national team and that’s what we do in this case, 100%.” he said.
“Adam had probably the most difficult season so far of his career but he is still top three or four players of England, 100%.
“We’ve struggled because it was a really big injury, a ruptured tendon, unlucky but big as well and it needed time.
“We try to use him and I spoke to Gareth this week. For us it’s a big challenge to have him around and not to bring him to be honest because maybe in the moment he needs a little bit longer.
“It’s not because of age or whatever, from all other points of view he’s in fantastic shape, but he needs a little bit more recovery time, stuff like that, and we needed all to learn and deal with that.
“I told Gareth that I don’t know what we’ll do for the weekend but he will be fit next week 100%t, so if he wants to invite him, you’re welcome, if you want to play him, you’re welcome.
“So he is ready to play football, obviously, but our job is to use him as often as possible and if we can do it, prepare him for the World Cup as well, so he will be fit in the summer.
“That’s only too late for the season, but from his point of view I’m pretty sure everything will be good again. If he could play minutes, of course that would help us and him.” he continued.
Klopp stated his pleasure at seeing Oxlade-Chamberlain recalled to the squad after being left out of the last one selected by Southgate.
“I would’ve invited him if I would be the English manager but it’s not my job.” he said.
“I think Alex played and developed a lot here and so it makes absolute sense, he’s a top, top player without a doubt.
“Hopefully it stays like that, he’s fit and he can help England a lot like he can help us a lot.” he finished.
England will play Holland on Friday 23rd March before taking on Italy four days later on Tuesday 27th. Neither of those nations qualified for the competition being held in Russia this Summer.
