Manchester United have overtaken Liverpool in the race to sign Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij.
That’s according to bookmaker Betstars, who have revealed the latest odds on which club the Holland international will join when his contract with the Italian side ends this Summer.
“Lazio’s in-demand defender, Stefan de Vrij is available on a free transfer this summer which has put a host of Europe’s elite clubs on high alert.” BetStars spokesman Ian Marmion told The Daily Star.
“Manchester United have leapfrogged their rivals Liverpool in the race for the Dutchman’s signature, who is keen for a new start in England.
“Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for defenders to bolster his back-line this summer and United are now the odds-on favourite at 5/6 to land the Serie A star, while Inter Milan follow closely behind at 6/5.
“Meanwhile, Liverpool have drifted to 3/1 to reunite De Vrij with his Dutch compatriot and the Reds’ record-signing Virgil van Dijk in central defence at Anfield.
“Juventus and Napoli are priced at 4/1 and 7/1 respectively to steal the 26-year-old centre-back from their Italian rivals, while Bayern Munich can be backed at 8/1 to become the Dutch international’s next destination.” he finished.
