Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has refused to confirm or deny whether his club have agreed a deal to sign Stefan de Vrij from Lazio.
The Holland international will be out of contract at the end of the season when his deal with the Serie A club expires and he has been linked with a whole host of top European clubs – including Liverpool.
It has been claimed that Inter Milan have won the race to land one of the most coveted free transfer players of the year – but Ausilio refused to give any indication when questioned.
“I cannot confirm something like that.” he told Mediaset.
“I can only talk about Inter and our players.” he added.
The Dutchman has been linked with a move to Anfield to partner international colleague Virgil Van Dijk, who arrived from Southampton in January in a deal worth a potential £75m.
Rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea have also been touted as potential suitors for the centre-back as he considers his next move.
Spanish giants Barcelona have also been touted as potential suitors for the twenty-six year old.
