Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has said that he would be “happy” to see the club face Juventus in the next round of the Champions League.
Jurgen Klopp’s side progressed to the quarter-final stage of the competition thanks to a 5-0 aggregate victory over Portuguese champions FC Porto following a 0-0 stalemate this week.
Serie A champions Juventus knocked out Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Wednesday thanks to a 2-1 win on the night which sealed a 4-3 aggregate success for the Turn club.
And Gerrard has told BT Sport that he would be pleased to see Liverpool draw the Italian giants in the last eight.
“Yes I’d be happy with that.” he said.
“I think Liverpool can hurt them and score against them.
“You know Juventus have got that know how which would concern me.
“From Liverpool’s point of view, I would be confident against anyone. Over two legs, they can be strong.” he added.
The thirty-seven year old also revealed that he would like to see Manchester rivals United and City drawn against each other – which will depend on United beating Sevilla at Old Trafford next week.
“I was thinking more Man Utd vs Man City. That would be dead exciting.” he said.
