Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is still planning to make a move to sign Alisson from AS Roma.
The Brazil international has emerged as the number one goalkeeping target ahead of the Summer transfer market opening when the season ends.
This is despite German stopper Loris Karius coming back into the side and staking a strong claim for the position long-term.
The former Mainz man made a key save from Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame during Saturday’s 2-0 victory shortly before half-time when Liverpool were just one goal up on Rafa Benitez’s side.
But Klopp remains keen on bringing Brazil international Alisson to Anfield at the end of the season – provided the price is right.
Roma are still smarting from allowing Mohamed Salah to move to Liverpool for such a relatively low fee last Summer and are unlikely to make the same mistake again.
Alisson is also reported to be catching the attention of European heavyweights Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain – and their presence will only see the price tag go up.
The Serie A keeper is first-choice for his nation and a strong performance at this Summer’s World Cup would only add further value to his transfer fee.
So Klopp will be looking to get a deal over the line as soon as possible once the campaign is over.
