West Ham United are set to offer Manuel Lanzini a new contract.
The Evening Standard are reporting that the London club will try and agree a new deal with the playmaker in order to fend off interest from Liverpool.
Lanzini has been regularly linked with a switch to Anfield over the past year or so following some impressive performances for the Premier League club.
The sale of Brazil international Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona has only seen speculation increase that Liverpool could be planning to make a move for the Argentine midfielder.
The twenty-five year old has just two years remaining on his £35,000 a week deal with the Hammers, but they have the option of extending that by another season.
They are determined not to lose one of their prized assets, however, and will avoid the risk by offering Lanzini a bumper new deal once they’re assured of their Premier League status this season.
Whether Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is actually interested in a deal for Lanzini remains to be seen, however.
Most supporters do not believe that the German is lining up a move for Lanzini and would prefer that he didn’t.
It is likely that he will agree.
