Liverpool are set to win the race to sign AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson.
That’s according to a report by Brazilian website UOL Esporte, who are claiming that the twenty-five year old has his heart set on a switch to Anfield.
It had appeared that manager Jurgen Klopp had cooled his interest in bringing Alisson to Anfield after his price tag continued to rise thanks to some impressive performances.
The improved form of German stopper Loris Karius has also led to many to speculate that Klopp could call off his pursuit of the Brazil international.
But this latest development suggests that he will continue to chase Alisson as the Brazilian is said to be prepared to reject interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain in order to become a Liverpool player.
Whether that’s true or not remains to be seen, but Alisson’s performances for Roma of late will certainly have impressed visiting scouts.
The Serie A club are still smarting over the sale of Mohamed Salah to Liverpool last Summer, as his sensational form has seen his value rise far beyond the £35m odd they received for his services.
Selling another star player to Liverpool for a reduced fee is not going be on Roma’s agenda, so Klopp will have to expect to pay a high price to land another player from them.
Most Liverpool supporters won’t have an issue with that if Alisson comes in and solves the long standing goalkeeping problem.
