Real Madrid attacker Dani Ceballos has asked his club to let him join Liverpool in the Summer.
That’s the claim being in an article by Spanish newspaper Marca, who are reporting that the attacking midfielder is desperate to join the Reds at the end of the season.
He only moved to the Bernabeu last Summer, but has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Zinedine Zidane’s side so far during the campaign.
The former Real Betis man has been linked regularly over the past couple of months with a switch to Anfield, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool are actually interested in signing him.
Ceballos is one of several creative midfielders to be linked with a transfer since Brazil international Philippe Coutinho left to join Barcelona in a deal worth £145m last month.
So any speculation should be taken with a pinch of salt at this stage, despite the likelihood that Ceballos is likely to be interested in getting game time away from Los Blancos next season.
He has faced stiff competition for a spot in Zidane’s team from the likes of Isco and Marco Asensio – and so could be showing patience in waiting for an opportunity to stake his claim for a place long-term.
This one looks like an unlikely transfer to take place, but the regular links could indicate some genuine interest. We shall have to wait and see.
