Van Dijk not worried about booing

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk is not worried about the reception he is likely to receive on Sunday.

The Holland international will make his first return to Southampton to face the club he left last month in order to complete his transfer to Anfield in a deal worth £75m.

And the Saints fans are likely to be preparing a hostile welcome for the twenty-six year old after an acrimonious and drawn out departure from St Mary’s.

“What can you do? Maybe they can boo the whole game, what can you do about it? You can’t do anything about it.” he told the Echo.

“I made the decision, I have enjoyed every bit of it and I am very grateful for everything that they did for me.

“I have moved on, they have moved on.

“I know they are struggling and we need to win. I am going there with only one mindset and that is to win.

“Obviously it will be nice to see the players I have played with and the friends I have there but, for me, it is going to be about one thing only and that is to win the game.” he finished.

Liverpool supporters will give him full backing as he seeks those priceless three points.
