A report in Spain by newspaper claims that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is being lined up for the Real Madrid job.
Current incumbent Zinedine Zidane has struggled to get the best out of his squad so far this season and is looking increasingly likely to lose his job before the end of the campaign.
Don Balon are making the claim that Klopp has told the Spanish giants that he will make the switch provided Colombia international James Rodriguez is at his disposal next season.
The article claims that the German boss has held preliminary discussions with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez over a switch to the Bernabeu this Summer.
Klopp has been linked with a move to try and bring Rodriguez to Anfield at the end of the season as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho – who headed to Spain himself last month to join Barcelona.
Rodriguez is currently part way through a two year loan spell with German giants Bayern Munich and, following a slow start, has started to find some of his better form under caretaker boss Jupp Heynckes, who is impressed with the attacking midfielder.
“In his current form, obviously James is a godsend for Bayern.” he said.
“It’s not easy, in another country with a different culture, a different mentality and he is doing very well, playing at a very high level, but he can do it better.
“It was well known that James was no longer satisfied in Madrid.
“He didn’t get the time that such a player deserves, and then it is logical to get the player in. James is an instant hit.
“How he acts and integrates, how he laughs again and is relaxed. He has arrived and is happy in Munich.” he finished.
It seems unlikely that either Rodriguez or Klopp will be at the Bernaebeu next season.
