Baggies set to win Sturridge race

West Bromwich Albion look set to win the race to sign Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.

The England international had looked set to move to Italy to join Serie A heavyweights Inter Milan for the rest of the campaign, with an option of a permanent deal in the Summer, before their interest cooled over the weekend.

Former Reds manager Rafa Benitez made contact to try and secure a deal that would see the twenty-eight year old head to St James’ Park for the rest of the campaign, but it now looks like he will miss out on Sturridge.

Baggies boss Alan Pardew appears to have convinced the former Manchester City and Chelsea forward that he would be better off heading to The Hawthorns this month.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was questioned over the situation earlier in the day during his press conference ahead of the visit to face Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.

“In the next three days a lot will probably happen but I have nothing to say about that.” he responded.

But it looks like Sturridge heading to West Brom on loan will do all the required talking now, as he is expected to have his medical this evening before completing the switch.
