Liverpool have “no chance” of agreeing a deal to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.
That’s the view of Spanish pundit Guillem Balague, who was responding to claims that the Reds were closing in on a surprise deal to bring the Frenchman to Anfield.
The odds on the twenty six year old making the switch to Merseyside have been cut to 7/2, while Manchester United and Barcelona are 14/1 to complete deals to sign him.
But Balague has poured cold water on the speculation that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be about to spend the money from the sale of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona on the forward.
“I thought at this stage, people who follow transfers would be bright enough to understand when they are being led astray.” he told Sky Sports.
“When there are serious matters at play, it is nonsense.
“Griezmann to Liverpool is absolute nonsense.” he finished.
It will come as no surprise to most Liverpool supporters, but the news will be a big disappoint to others who were getting their hopes up over the speculation.
