Liverpool are set to offer Roberto Firmino a new contract.
That’s the claim being made in a report by The Telegraph, as the club seek to avoid losing the Brazil international as they did with his compatriot Philippe Coutinho.
The twenty-five year old left Anfield to join Barcelona in a deal worth around £145m and Liverpool do not want to see former Hoffenheim man Firmino decide his time is up here. Firmino set a heartfelt public message to his friend.
“I wish you infinite success, that you enjoy life and realise all your dreams brother. God is always protecting you and your whole family. It was an honour to play with a magician like you.” he said.
The forward and Coutinho are close friends, as well as international and club team-mates, and manager Jurgen Klopp views Firmino as the “engine” in his side and does not want to see him go.
It is being reported that Liverpool will offer Firmino a long-term contract, potentially keeping him at the club for the rest of his career, in order to hold of interest in his services.
Some are speculating that Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid will seek to lure Firmino away from Anfield in the coming year.
