Liverpool are keen on bringing Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic to the Premier League.
That’s according to a report by Diario Gol, who are reporting that the Croatia international is now considering his options following the arrival of Philippe Coutinho at the Spanish club.
According to the article, the twenty-nine year old is under the impression that the Brazilian has been signed to replace him and that has seen him decide that it would be best to leave the Camp Nou.
Should Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp decide to go ahead with a move for the former Sevilla man, which looks quite unlikely this month, he would face competition for Rakitic’s signature.
Italian champions Juventus are said to be monitoring his situation and Premier League side Arsenal are also said to be keen admirers of the midfield playmaker.
Barcelona are likely to need to move on some players in order to help balance the books after signing Coutinho in a deal worth a potential £142m and Rakitic could be one of the casualties.
But his arrival at Anfield seems unlikely given his age and likely salary demands, which do not seem to fit in with the profile of player FSG and Klopp like to sign.
