Leipzig refuse to bring forward Keita move

RB Leipzig are refusing to allow midfielder Naby Keita to make the move to Liverpool early.

A deal was agreed back in the Summer for the Guinea international to move to Anfield for the 2018/19 season after the Reds agreed to pay a premium to activate his release clause early.

Reports claim that the Reds have contacted the German club asking if they would be willing to allow the African to complete the transfer early.

Liverpool are prepared to pay an additional fee to persuade the Bundesliga side to let their man leave earlier than planned.

But Leipzig are standing firm and refusing to consider letting Keita go early as they seek to claim a Champions League place for next season.

Jurgen Klopp is eager to get the deal brought forward after allowing Brazil international Philippe Coutinho to leave for Barcelona this month.

But it appears that the Reds will have to wait for 1st July to see Keita finally complete his move to Merseyside.

  1. This is news because? It was always to be the case. Thus the shortfall from Coutinho remains – as I have said for the last 8 months. We needed an immediate replacement for Coutinho’s departure and it wouldn’t take a lesser sighted individual to see that. A failure no less, no more. I only hope he does not rue the day for his short-sightedness!
