Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring Luis Suarez back to Anfield.
That is according to a report by Don Balon, in which they claim that the Reds have contacted Barcelona to ask about the Uruguay international’s availability for a move this month.
The Spanish club are preparing to launch a fourth bid to sign Philippe Coutinho after having a trio of offers rejected for the Brazil international last Summer.
And Klopp is claimed to be preparing to give some of the reported £145m fee straight back to the Catalan club by agreeing a deal that would see Suarez return to the club he left almost four years ago.
Suarez is said to be happy with life at the Camp Nou and is looking forward to reuniting with former Anfield colleague Coutinho – but Barcelona’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann could ultimately see him drop down the pecking order.
Barcelona are also likely to need to raise funds to complete a deal for the France international in the Summer and could be open to the idea of letting Suarez go given his age.
Suarez will turn thirty-one later this month and his transfer value is going to decrease the older he gets – so the La Liga leaders could decide to cash in before it drops too low.
It doesn’t seem likely that he will be making a return to Anfield any time soon, but the idea of a sensational comeback will have the imaginations of supporters captured.
