Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has given little away after being asked about his club’s move for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.
No offer is reported to have been made by the Spanish club for the Brazil international since the transfer window opened on Monday, but they are expected to return after seeing three bids rejected last Summer.
But when the Camp Nou boss was asked about the situation, he didn’t give much away when asked if the Catalan giants were lining up a fresh move for the former Inter Milan player.
“Sometimes I come in here and I learn about things that are happening; whether they’re true or not, I don’t know.” he told a press conference.
“Coutinho plays for another team and he is a great player for that team. If he plays for Barca in the future or not, I don’t know.
“I like the players I have in my team and if another one comes in the future, I’m sure he has to be a very good player, too.
“I’ve got nothing to say about Coutinho. We respect the fact he plays for another club.” he finished.
Many Liverpool supporters will feel the comment about respecting “the face he players for another club” is rich after the Nike leak this week.
