The odds on Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere moving to Anfield have been slashed.
Bookmaker Ladbrokes have made the Reds second favourites at 3/1 to land the England international when his contract runs out with the Gunners at the end of the season.
Only Newcastle United, managed by former Reds boss Rafa Benitez, are at lower odds to land Wilshere with the chances of him heading to St James’ Park rated at 7/4.
Arsenal have allowed Wilshere’s contract to run down and he will be free to leave The Emirates at the end of the current campaign unless he puts pen to paper on a new deal.
If he were to end his spell with Arsenal in order to join Liverpool, Wilshere would be following in the footsteps of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – who left the north London side for Anfield back in the Summer.
Wilshere has been lauded as one of the most talented English players of his generation, but injuries have restricted the impact he has been able to make at his boyhood club.
A year long loan spell at Bournemouth last season saw him manage to play more regularly, but he has not been able to hold down a regular spot in Arsene Wenger’s side since returning.
Given that he would command no fee to move at the end of the season, it could well make sense for Klopp to bring him to the club.
