Liverpool are set to make a move to sign Julian Draxler on loan in January.
This is according to a report by French newspaper L’Equipe, who are claiming that manager Jurgen Klopp has rekindled his interest in his compatriot after missing out on him last season.
Paris Saint Germain beat him to the signing of the Germany international from VfL Wolfsburg in last Christmas after Liverpool had shown an interest in bringing the twenty-four year old to Anfield.
Draxler has seen his opportunities limited so far this season, however, after the Summer signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe from Barcelona and AS Monaco respectively.
With the World Cup approaching next Summer, he may well decide that a loan move away from the Parc des Princes is the best idea for the remainder of the season as he looks to secure his place on the plane to Russia.
It is also likely to satisfy Liverpool with the opportunity to see how he fares in the Premier League ahead of a potential permanent deal at the end of the campaign.
Some supporters have queried why another attacking player is being looked at, but with clouds remaining over the future of Philippe Coutinho it would make sense to have a replacement present in the squad ahead of letting the Brazilian go.
