Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka.
That’s according to a report by Spanish newspaper Don Balon, in which it is claimed that the club have negotiated a transfer.
Goretzka is out of contract at the end of the campaign and the queue of clubs linked with offers for him has gradually grown over the course of the season so far.
Former German international Oliver Bierhoff recently let slip that Goretzka had decided that he would be heading to England.
And now it appears that he has opted to make the switch to Anfield to link up with compatriot Jurgen Klopp.
The twenty-two year old has attracted interest from Arsenal, Spurs, Bayern Munich and Barcelona in recent months, according to claims in the media.
But it would seem that the Reds have managed to win the race by persuading the player to leave his homeland before the end of his deal.
It remains to be seen whether the report is accurate, but if so it will see Liverpool pay a relatively low fee for his services to Schalke in the new year.
