Juventus are refusing to give up on their plan to sign Emre Can from Liverpool.
The Italian champions were hoping to agree a pre-contract with the midfielder in the new year ahead of the expiry of his deal at Anfield next Summer.
News of interest from Premier League leaders Manchester City appeared to put a big dent in their hopes of luring the German to Turin.
But the Serie A club are considering making an offer to buy Can in January in order to step ahead of City in the race to snap up the former Bayer Leverkusen man.
Former club Bayern Munich have also been linked with a move to re-sign Can next season, but their interest doesn’t appear to be as firm.
Liverpool are not keen on the idea of selling Can in January, but Juventus hope to persuade them if it appears that hope of him signing a new deal at Anfield looks slim.
Manager Jurgen Klopp remains optimistic that he can persuade Can to put pen to paper on an extension, but time is running out.
