Liverpool could make a move to sign Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij if he agrees a release clause in his contract with the Italian club.
The Holland international has agreed all terms on an extension to his current deal but wants the Serie A side to agree to include a £22m release clause.
That is according to Transfermarketweb, who are claiming that Lazio are offering to insert a clause that would see the defender available for £35m.
The Rome club are set to hand de Vrij a weekly wage of just £35,000 a week – which is considerably less than he could pick up if he made the move to Anfield.
Liverpool were linked regularly with an offer for de Vrij over the Summer as a potential for his international colleague Virgil van Dijk of Southampton.
But manager Jurgen Klopp could decide to move for both the Dutchman if his side continue to defend as poorly as they have so far this season.
Uniting the Netherlands duo could prove to the the answer to the issues blighting Klopp’s backline.
