Brighton & Hove Albion are keen on doing a deal with Liverpool to sign Joe Gomez.
That’s according to The Argus, a local newspaper of the south coast side, who are claiming that the newly-promoted club are keen to add the England under-21 defender to their squad for next season.
The article does not reveal whether Brighton boss Chris Hughton is looking to take Gomez on loan or if they are readying an offer of a permanent deal.
It seems unlikely that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp would sanction a permanent exit for the ex-Charlton Athletic player, but a season-long switch to Brighton could make sense as part of his continuing development.
Gomez returned late last year from the long-term ACL injury that he picked up early in the 2015/16 season and wasn’t afforded any Premier League game time by the German.
He did get starts in the FA Cup games against Plymouth Argyle before being part of the team which lost 2-1 at Anfield to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the following round.
The article also claims that Premier League club Bournemouth are also keen to sign Gomez this Summer, after snapping up Jordon Ibe and Brad Smith last Summer.
Gomez spent much of the remainder of the campaign as part of the under-23 squad.
