Manchester United have shown a late interest in signing Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk.
That’s according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, who has tweeted that the Old Trafford club joined rivals Chelsea and Manchester City in showing interest in the Dutchman.

But it appears too late for Jose Mourinho to make a move for the twenty-five year old after he indicated that he would like to make the move to Anfield this Summer.
The two clubs still need to agree a fee for the ex-Celtic man to leave St Mary’s for Anfield, but it looks like the race is down to just the Reds now.
United had previously been tentatively linked with a bid, but the speculation went quiet along with that of talk of Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger putting an offer in.
Southampton could well dig in their heels and try to keep Van Dijk yet.
