Liverpool have ended their interest in signing Fulham youngster Ryan Sessegnon.
Talks with the representatives of the teenager proved to be “difficult” according to reports and the club have ended negotiations after being unconvinced that he would like to move to Merseyside.
The Echo are reporting that the seventeen year old is now expected to turn down the offer of a professional contract from Fulham and will opt to join Tottenham Hotspur this Summer instead.
Sessegnon has been in impressive form for the Championship club this season and has attracted attention from several top Premier League clubs.
But it now looks like Mauricio Pochettino has won the race to land the England youth international and could be set to use him as understudy to full England international Danny Rose – although Manchester United are set to make an offer to sign the former Sunderland loanee.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will now have to reassess his plans to use Sessegnon as understudy to makeshift left-back James Milner next season and could be set to move for another senior player instead.
Several players have been linked, with former Manchester City defender Gael Clichy the latest touted in the media.
