Bookies stop taking bets on Van Dijk move

Van Dijk in action against Divock Origi

Paddy Power have stopped taking bets on Liverpool signing Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk.

The Holland international has been regularly linked with a switch to Anfield and reports continue to link him with a £50m switch from the South Coast club.

And now it has come to light, thanks to Twitter user Monkey Sponge Sports, that the bookies have decided to stop taking stakes on the move going ahead.

It is a good indication that the Reds are closing in on a deal for the centre-back, but while Manchester City and Chelsea continue to be linked it remains an open race.
