Juventus have dropped out of the race to land Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa.
That’s according to a report by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, who are claiming that the Serie A champions have been put off by the pricetag placed on the winger.
Bayern are said to want around €35m for the former Shakhtar Donetsk man – which is not a fee that is likely to put Liverpool off making a move for Costa.
Manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly looking to add more pace to his frontline and there is talk that Costa has been identified as one of the most likely targets this Summer.
Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt and Borussia Dortmund teenager Christian Pulisic are other names that have regularly come up in the press this season.
Costa looks likely to leave Bayern this Summer after falling out of favour with manager Carlo Ancelotti and some reports claim the Italian will look to replace him with Brandt.
That could suit Liverpool, as then Brandt would be off the market and Costa would become the obvious target.
The presence of Brazil internationals Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Lucas Leiva at Anfield could also help swing a move in Klopp’s favour.
