Liverpool are interested in signing Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson this Summer.
That’s according to The Mirror, who are claiming that the twenty-four year old has emerged as a transfer target for the club after impressing for Boro this season.
After winning promotion from the Championship last season, the north-east club have struggled for goals in the Premier League – but their backline have been much more impressive.
Gibson, who is said to be very dedicated to his club, has been a key ingredient in their defensive quality and it has earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad this season.
But it looks like his resolve to remain where he is will be tested by most of the clubs in the top six, with all said to be keeping a close eye on his progress.
The Reds have sent scouts to watch him on several occasions this season and have been joined by members of the team from both Manchester City and Chelsea too.
Manager Jurgen Klopp will face a fight to land Gibson if he decides to make a move, it would seem.
