Mbappe rejected Reds switch

Mbappe was in fine form against Manchester City this week

AS Monaco star Kylian Mbappe rejected the chance to join Liverpool.

That’s according to The Daily Mail, who are reporting that the young forward spurned to opportunity to move to Anfield back when he was a fifteen year old youth player.

Mbappe reportedly chose a switch to the French league leaders ahead of deals with Real Madrid – and that is despite being a supporter of the Spanish giants – Chelsea, Bayern Munich and the Reds.

So keen to land him were the La Liga club that they flew him over for a trial and introduced him to manager, and French legend, Zinedine Zidane.

Manchester City were also reported to have had a £34.5m offer rejected by Monaco last Summer for the teenage sensation – who has sixteen goals in seventeen starts so far this season.

Mbappe was previously with local side AS Bondy, in Paris, where his father and agent, Wilfried, was a coach.

When he departed Clairefontaine aged fifteen, they decided that Monaco was the best move to get him into the first-team picture quickly.

That choice has proven to be the right one so far, but Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp would certainly have given him plenty of game time.
