Sturridge backed for late exit

Klopp has had to use Sturridge sparingly this season

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge could be set for a late move in the transfer window.

That’s if you believe the current odds from bookmaker Betfair – who have cut his odds on joining West Ham United this month down to 3/1.

Recent reports have claimed that the former Chelsea forward is likely to leave Anfield at the end of the season after manager Jurgen Klopp grew tired of his inability to adapt to the tactical system the German deploys.

But it seems unlikely that Sturridge will be allowed to move on given the lack of depth in Klopp’s squad coupled with the long-term injury to Danny Ings.

The Hammers aren’t the only side said to be sniffing around the England international, but the odds placed on him joining other clubs before Tuesday’s deadline aren’t as low.

Sturridge is 12/1 to join Tottenham Hotspur or Inter Milan and 16/1 to join Arsenal – which suggests that it would be West Ham or a stay at Anfield.

And the latter seems far more likely.
