Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has signed a new contract.
The nineteen year old has put pen to paper on an extension to his deal which sees his previous contract stretched to 2022.
He follows attacker Philippe Coutinho in committing his future to the club after the Brazilian signed a new contract earlier this week.
Gomez moved to Anfield from Charlton Athletic back in the Summer of 2015 in a deal worth an initial £3.5m to the League One club.
The England youth defender spent most of his debut season out injured with a cruciate ligament problem that he only fully recovered from recently.
He had been holding down the left-back spot in Brendan Rodgers side before the long-term absence and has returned to feature for the under-23 side and in Jurgen Klopp’s cup side during the new year.
Gomez has impressed Klopp with his determination to return from the problem and his attitude and quality in training since getting back to fitness.
He will be looking to challenge for a spot in the Premier League side over the coming months.
