Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic has praised his former manager Jurgen Klopp.
That has seen speculation resurface that the centre-back could be set for a switch to Anfield after he was heavily linked this time last season, shortly after Klopp’s arrival at Anfield.
He saw a Summer switch to Middlesbrough fall apart and has remained with the Bundesliga club – and continued his struggles with injuries and holding down a place in Thomas Tuchel’s side.
But the talk has come up once again despite all of that, with his positive words about his “mentor”.
“Klopp has been my mentor for nine years, he supported me, encouraged me, had trust in me.” he is quoted by The Mirror.
“With him and Dortmund I had the most amazing time.
“For that I am forever thankful.
“He was and is an important person in my life and I owe him a lot.” he finished.
It seems highly unlikely that Klopp will make a move for Subotic this month, or even down the line unless the twenty-eight year old can improve his fitness.
