Liverpool youngster Cameron Brannagan will not be going out on loan just yet.
The twenty year old has been linked with a temporary switch to League One club Bolton Wanderers in the new year, but that has now been put on hold.
Brannagan has reportedly damaged his ankle ligaments during training and will remain with the club while he recovers following a scan that revealed a grade two sprain.
The midfielder will spend the next few weeks recuperating and then a transfer could be considered, but only if he is fully fit by that point.
It will come as a disappointment to Brannagan after a similar loan deal to Championship club Wigan Athletic fell through in the Summer at the last minute.
Liverpool wanted Wigan to commit to picking him for 75% of their fixtures, but they would not agree to that and ended negotiations over the loan.
Brannagan has seen plenty of game time in the under-23 side so far this campaign, but has been unable to make it into one of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squads after making nine appearances last season.
