Everton manager Ronald Koeman wants to be reunited with Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk.
Reports today claim that the Dutchman is keen to sign his compatriot from his former club for a fee of £40m.
It would be a highly ambitious move from the Goodison Park club as van Dijk is reportedly wanted by both Liverpool and Manchester United, with Manchester City also said to be monitoring the twenty-five year old.
The Holland international, who joined Southampton from Celtic last year, has been in impressive form since arriving at St Mary’s and has gained a lot of attention in recent months.
Saints boss Claude Puel will do well to keep hold of his prize asset as interest mounts, but it remains to be seen whether Everton have the pull to lure the defender to Merseyside.
Many Liverpool supporters are hopeful that Jurgen Klopp will move for van Dijk next Summer and partner him with the increasingly impressive Joel Matip at the heart of the Reds’ defence next season.
If van Dijk continues to perform as well as he has since joining Southampton, the list of admirers will only continue to grow.
