Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho is set to miss the rest of 2016.
The Brazilian had a scan on his foot today and it confirmed that he will sit out five to six weeks of action thanks to the injury.
He suffered the ankle ligament damage in a challenge with Sunderland midfielder Didier Ndong and was stretchered off during the 2-0 win.
That means that he will miss several games as Jurgen Klopp’s side chase a maiden Premier League title:
Leeds United (H) – Nov 29th
Bournemouth (A) – Dec 4th
West Ham (H) – Dec 11th
Middlesbrough (A) – Dec 14th
Everton (A) – Dec 19th
Stoke City (H) – Dec 27th
Man City (H) – Dec 31st
Sunderland (A) – Jan 2nd
Coutinho will sit out crunch games with local rivals Everton and title challengers Manchester City during December.
He could also miss the FA Cup third round fixture in early January, which will be against opposition to be drawn at a later date.
