Liverpool are interested in signing Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk.
That’s according to former Coventry City and Newcastle United striker Mick Quinn.
Quinn has claimed that the Reds are keen to bring the former Celtic centre-back to Anfield as Liverpool “love a Southampton player”.
“I believe they’re interested in Van Dijk, when the transfer window opens up,” Quinn is quoted by the Echo.
“They love a Southampton player, they’ll probably go back again.” he added.
Van Dijk has been in superb form for the Saints since arriving from the Scottish Premier League, but they will not want to lose yet another star player to Liverpool.
Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren are all former Southampton players in Jurgen Klopp’s squad and Rickie Lambert also made the switch from the south coast to Merseyside.
