Liverpool sent a representative to watch Benfica’s Goncalo Guedes in Champions League action on Tuesday night.
The Portuguese side were in action against Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev and the Reds had dispatched a scout to watch the teenager in action.
But there will be plenty of competition for the nineteen year old, as Chelsea and Manchester United also had scouts present.
Guedes has progressed through the youth system at the Portuguese club and is now a regular fixture in Rui Vitoria’s side.
He managed to score three goals and provide six assists in eighteen appearances for Benfica last season.
And despite all the interest surrounding his future, the teenager has dismissed talk of making an exit from the Estadio de Luz any time soon.
“I’m not thinking about leaving in January.” he said last week.
“Benfica are the club of my heart and I’m focused on playing for them.
“All games are important, we want to win the three points but we know that the Champions League is a very demanding competition.” he finished.
A move to one of the Premier League giants may change his mind.
