Manchester City want to sign Liverpool defender Nathaniel Clyne.
That’s according to Football Whispers, who are claiming that Pep Guardiola is lining up a £35m offer to snap up the England full-back.
Clyne has become one of the most consistent performers in Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team and is unlikely to be allowed to leave.
But Guardiola is said to be disappointed with the senior full-backs in his squad and has put the former Crystal Palace and Southampton man at the top of his wanted list.
Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta are the current right-back options in the City squad and both are well past their peak and into their thirties.
The Spanish coach is demanding of his players, much like Klopp, and wants more energy and pace down either flank from his full-backs – which Clyne currently provides for Liverpool.
Should the club allow him to move on, for the right price, it is hard to see where a replacement can be brought in from.
