Scholes backs Reds for title

Scholes is now a pundit for BT Sport

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has said that he thinks Liverpool could win the title.

The former England international was speaking after United scraped a 1-0 win over Zorya Luhansk at Old Trafford in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Jose Mourinho will be bringing his side to Anfield on Monday 17th October for the first clash between the two biggest and most successful clubs in the country.

And Scholes indicated that he wasn’t so impressed with his former side – but that he felt the Reds were a threat to the Premier League title.

“I was a little bit worried about them defensively but you have to say the attacking quality.” he told BT Sport.

“But they’re showing at the minute they look like they’re going to score goals against anybody.” he continued.

When former Liverpool and United striker Michael Owen mentioned a title challenge, Scholes immediately indicated that he hopes Jurgen Klopp doesn’t lead his side to the trophy.

“I hope they don’t.” he said.
