FSG owner John W Henry has indicated that there will be no extension of the Anfield Road End.
The American said that ticket prices were “an issue in England” – which indicates his lack of satisfaction over having to roll back plans to charge fans up to £77 for entry to Anfield.
“I don’t know if there is a next step because ticket prices are an issue in England.” he said.
“That may foreclose further expansion. We’ll have to see.” he added.
After this year saw the Main Stand capacity upgraded to allow more supporters into Anfield, it will come as a disappointment for fans that FSG are not looking to make more improvements.
“The way we managed the Main Stand expansion was great and we will continue in a similar vein to be cautious and not promise anything until we are ready to deliver.” Ian Ayre added.
“We will come along with planning if and when we have the right design and economic model.
“Once we have these parts in place, we will let people know.” he finished.
Some are suggesting that it could be a sign that the American investment group are looking to sell the club in the not too distant future.
That view is supported by the fact that Liverpool’s net spend was negative this Summer.
