Brazil legend Rivaldo has revealed that he rejected the chance to join Liverpool.
The former Barcelona man has said that the Reds tried to lure him from the Camp Nou, but he decided to stay with the Spanish giants.
He joined them from Deportivo La Coruna in 1997, shortly after Barcelona pulled the plug on a move for Steve McManaman, and went on to become one of the best players in the world.
Rivaldo almost knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League in 2005 when he put Olympiakos 1-0 up in the group stage game that the Reds went on to win 3-1 before lifting the trophy.
And he could have been a Red had he decided to take up the offer from Anfield. He was also a target for Manchester United, but he rejected their offer as well.
“Yes, I did receive a few offers back then from Liverpool and Manchester [United] when I was playing for Barcelona,” Rivaldo told Squawka.
“There was also another small club that tried.
“Teams that I admire in England are Chelsea and Manchester [United].” he finished.
