Liverpool sign Sadio Mane

Mane has made the move from Southampton to Liverpool

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Sadio Mane from Southampton.

The Senegal international has signed a “long-term contract” after completing a medical on Monday and agreeing terms.

It is believed that the club have paid £34m for the twenty-four year old attacker – who will wear the number 19 shirt.

And Mane is very happy to have made the move to Anfield.

“Today is a big day and I am very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe.” he told

“It’s a club that has won a lot of trophies and has a big history.

“Now I am looking forward to meeting all the staff and my teammates and starting the season.”

“I knew Liverpool were interested in me, I had some opportunities, but I think for me this is the right club, the right coach and the right moment to change.

“I am very happy to be a part of Liverpool Football Club.” he added.

Mane revealed that manager Jurgen Klopp was a big factor in his decision to choose the switch to Liverpool.

“He said he wanted me to come to play for Liverpool. I didn’t even have to ask myself, I said straight away ‘yes, I am interested’ because I know Liverpool.” he said.

“I am convinced Liverpool are the right club for me with the right coach.” he finished.

Mane spent two years on the South Coast with Southampton and he scored 25 goals in 75 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League club. He has 36 caps for Senegal and has scored 10 goals in those appearances.

    1. After seeing Mane’s performance in the 2015-2016 season and knowing what Klopp can do with players I think that it was a good signing and was worth the cost.
