Napoli are leading Liverpool in the race to sign Hector Herrera.
That’s according to Tutto Mercato, who are reporting that the Italian club are ahead in the fight to snap up the Porto midfielder.
Herrera has been linked with a move to Anfield as an alternative target for Udinese’s Piotr Zielinski.
Napoli are also interested in signing Zielinski, but the Polish international has indicated that he would prefer a move to Anfield.
All that needs to be agreed is fees for the two players, but it isn’t clear just yet as to who will be moving where.
Porto want more than the £14m Napoli are offering for Herrera, while Udinese are looking for more than Liverpool have bid. Napoli did reportedly have an offer accepted for Zielinski, however.
What seems certain is that neither club will sign both with it looking likely that each will snap up one of the two midfielders.
Jurgen Klopp is looking to overhaul his midfield options this Summer.
