Reports today claim that new Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka turned down Liverpool in favour of joining the London club.
Xhaka made a big money move from Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach this week after being linked with a switch to Anfield earlier this year.
Jurgen Klopp was reported to have met with the Swiss international a few months ago in order to try and persuade him that a move to Liverpool would be the best for him.
But Xhaka has decided to make the switch to the Emirates after speaking to people who have played there previously.
“I spoke with Harvard [Nordtveit] about Arsenal and he told me it’s a big club, a family club and it’s very important for me to come here.” he revealed.
“Philippe played here and I play with him in the national team. Johan [Djorou] and Philippe [Senderos] have only told me positive things.
“Arsenal is Arsenal. It’s not a small club, it’s a very big club and it’s like a family.
“It’s very good for me because I love my family and to have another family here is very good.” he finished.
Xhaka had been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool after Klopp took over in October.
