Ilori set for Deportivo switch

Ilori has failed to make an impact in three years since signing for the club

Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori will reportedly make a Summer move to Deportivo La Coruna.

The Spanish club are looking for defensive reinforcements ahead of next season and are said to have identified the Portuguese centre-back as a man they want to sign.

That’s according to Football Insider, who claim that he will finally make an exit from Anfield after finally featuring for the first-team this season.

Ilori arrived at Anfield in the Summer of 2013 from Sporting Lisbon, but he struggled to get anywhere near the first-team and was sent out on loan to Granada, Bordeaux and Aston Villa before being recalled in the Winter to ease injury issues.

He made his long-awaited debut against Exeter City in the FA Cup, but he didn’t impress enough to challenge for a place in the team long-term and has returned to being out in the cold.

With Joel Matip likely to arrive in the Summer, it looks like Ilori’s time at the club is drawing to a close.
