Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel is a Summer transfer target for Turkish club Besiktas – who have opened negotiations according to reports.
That’s according to Fanatik, who claim that the SuperLig side want to make him an addition to their squad for next season – when they will likely play in the Champions League.
Besiktas are close to winning their domestic title and want to build on that potential success by improving their squad.
Skrtel has fallen down the pecking order at Anfield following the improved form of Mamadou Sakho and Dejan Lovren under Jurgen Klopp since the German took over in October.
Kolo Toure and Lucas Leiva have also put in some impressive performances at centre-back this season, which has seen Skrtel’s position look even more precarious.
The Slovakian international, who is now thirty-one, is the second longest serving player at the club. But it now looks like his time is coming to an end.
